Prison of your own Making

When we came to the Kingdom, we gave up all our rights. The Kingdom of God is like this: that king that forgave all our debts. Which king is this? The King Jesus. God is saying this to us: “All that is done to you, and you don’t do it back, it will be revoked.” Jesus forgave us. So shall we do the same. This parable is so strong. He is saying that if we don’t do to others as He has done to us (forgive), no matter how great or little you think the trespass is, we are all sentenced to death. He will not forgive you, according to Jesus.

We don’t care what the World does. Eye for an eye? No. We don’t pay evil for evil. If someone hits you on your cheek, you give them the other. Jesus never got offended at anyone. God is expecting us to die to our rights for justice and not hold offense against anybody. Because what He did for us, He wants us to do exactly the same to others regardless of the trespass because He is the one who will do what needs to be done. We want justice. You think you do, but that is Satan’s trick to make your offense valid or more important than Him.

We want revenge when God never revenges us for all we did? He gets angry at this type of behavior. This creates a heart of Cain. It is impossible to love an offender when you don’t give mercy. What was given to the guy in Matthew 18, he did not give to others: Mercy! What Jesus is saying: Let me handle the evil. You handle your heart. Wow! Love your enemies: Is this a possible thing? Well, the Bible says we can do it. The only disciple who allowed offense to become his passion was Judas. Peter had so many chances to be mad after walking on water: Jesus said He had little faith. Another time, He called him a devil, but Peter did not get offended.

Christians, brothers and sisters, God has forgiven all our sins, and we hold them against others? The Bible says, “Who is forgiven much, loves much.” It does not matter who did what. The Father wants us to forgive all, so we can see God, so we can be free. If we choose to make our case, we are all guilty without Christ.

Now we are living in a spiritual kingdom. God delivers us over to the devil. When we don’t obey Him or we don’t forgive, we begin to be tormented. We end up in this prison of our own making. People in the World say very often, “I will never forgive that person.” There no love or joy, walls are put up, we get touchy, and we shut down. God said, “Guard your heart” or what will grow out of it is bitterness. Jesus comes to set us free, but we need to let go of our past and our present offenses. When you don’t do it, you can’t walk hand and hand. There is division with God and you.

Jesus was talking about the keys of the kingdom before he spoke about forgiveness in His prayer:

“Forgive our debts as we forgive our debtors.” What is He saying? People will be offended or will hurt you but always forgive them. If you forgive your debtors, your heavenly Father will forgive you, too. Whatever has been done wrong to you is a trespass. When you forgive, God deals with the situation. If you want justice, God will give you justice. If you don’t forgive, your Father won’t. The devil is scared of the blood. It is the cross that took the authority back. When you don’t forgive, you separate yourself from the cross. You say, “God, I am worthy of forgiveness but not this one. I want them to pay for what they did.” This is not how children of the Kingdom are to be, just like the children of the World. We are set apart and have a heart for God.

God is on you for you to repent. But when you don’t repent, you don’t have the fruits of righteousness. You can repent in your mind, but if you don’t do it in your heart, that does not work. “Change of mind repentance” is also another doctrine that comes out in the last day’s wisdom of man.

Longsuffering means that people have done wrong to you but you don’t hold that offense in you. You love long, and you keep doing good, thinking on the pure. You bear your cross. You keep looking at the cross. Because whatever He did to you, you will do to others: forgive and love. God does not classify sin by size. Forgiveness is a fruit of righteousness. No fruit, NO repentance. I don’t care if a person says they forgave. If they really did it, there will be the fruits of it called love.

This scripture, a very sad one, says they found no place of repentance. Repentance does not mean that you need to be on your knees groveling, but in your heart, you have repented. Whatever you loose on earth is loosed in heaven. Loose forgiveness in your mind, body, and soul, and your heart will follow. Your whole being must do it. You will see the result even in your emotions. It all starts in your heart. Some people try to forgive through their mind, but deep down the offense is still there. The devil may use even your senses to touch on that offense and to feed it. You can seek repentance and not obtain it because your heart is not really in it.

We need to shake off offense and unforgiveness in Godly fear. Unforgiveness is offense that was never been dealt with. You meditated in your mind and planted it in your heart. Gird the loins of your mind and guard your heart. Whatever is from above, think on it. Whatever is pure, lovely, and of good report. There is always a fruit of forgiveness. We lose our rights on the cross. We don’t have any right anymore. So tear up your list of things done to you. Burn the past. The Kingdom is ahead of you, not behind you!

The answer for never throwing ourselves in our own prison is in 1 Corinthians 13. To walk offense free, you need to walk in love. If your eye is not single, your whole body is full of darkness, and suddenly you start to see everybody with your eyes full of darkness. Love takes no record of wrong. If you don’t love, you will be tormented. Never repay evil for evil. Let God be the final judge, not us.

Let’s ask God to pull out any seeds of bitterness and offense. When someone hurts you, sometimes you think you forgot or forgave, but suddenly when something comes up, you pull out that list of wrong done to you. You choose not to forgive when God forgave all our debts. Everyone will betray but make sure that you do not betray anybody. Everyone will be offended but make sure that you will not be. Just like Jesus. He is the measure we live to obtain and, in that, we let others loose because He is freeing us. Let’s walk in the Spirit and not fulfill our own righteousness. That is filthy in the sight of a perfect God. Let us be in the glory where all of hell cannot touch us! Let us be in His presence, not in a spiritual prison of our own making! Shane W Roessiger
